Torremolinos is aSpanishholiday resort located within theCosta del Solon the Mediterranean coast, just west ofMalaga. The clean sandy beaches, vibrant nightlife and warm sunny weather is what attracts most Europeans to the holiday resort. But not only is Torremolinos a popular place for Europeans to spend a week or two, it's also a popular place to migrate to, with a huge number of British and Irish expats living there.
Torremolinos enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers followed by mild wet winters. Although the winters are wet compared to the dry summer season, the resort is still very dry compared to most of northern Europe, making it a great place to go to catch some winter sun. Thanks to its extreme southerly location, Torremolinos remains relatively warm throughout the year. Temperatures typically vary between 7°C and 31°C across the seasons, rarely dropping below 4°C or rising above 35°C. In addition to the resort's southerly location, one of the major reasons behind this temperate climate is the mountain range found north of the resort. This mountain range protects Torremolinos from a lot of rainfall and the cool northern winds which affect many other regions of Spain.
Spring Weather in Torremolinos
Following on from a cool, wet winter, the resort warms and dries up significantly as the spring season develops. AcrossMarch,AprilandMay, the average temperature for Torremolinos is 15°C-19°C. Daily highs average between 20°C and 24°C, whilst nightly lows range between 10°C and 13°C. With such a huge difference in temperature between the hottest part of the day and the coldest part of the night, you'll need to take a good selection of beachwear and winter warmers with you to make sure you stay comfortable whatever the weather.
The start of the season sees a spike in rainfall up to 61mm over seven days in March but from then on out the precipitation decreases each month, down to 36mm in April over seven wet days and down again to just 12mm over seven wet days in May. The most common type of precipitation to fall at this time of year is moderate rain storms, which usually start out with short thunderstorms. With rain falling on an average of one week each month, there is a very good chance you'll get a wet spell or two during your holiday in Torremolinos. As the spring slowly blends into summer, the number of daily sunshine hours increases. So although some travellers might find these average highs a bit stifling, the evenings will bring some much welcome relief for everyone.
As you'd expect for a holiday resort in Spain, Torremolinos is subject to hardly anyrainfallat all during the summer season. July is the driest month of summer, when not even a drop of precipitation falls on average. August sees a meagre 2mm of rainfall, whilst June sees a slightly damper 6mm. By September, the summer season is transitioning into autumn and the rainfall spikes up to 38mm, spread over an average of five days. In the unlikely event that you do get some rainfall during your summer holiday in Torremolinos, it will most likely be in the form of a thunderstorm. However, the odds are so much in favour of a dry holiday that you shouldn't let it put you off.
Summer is the sunniest season of the year for Torremolinos, when the resort enjoys an average of 10-14daily sunshine hours. July is the sunniest month of the year, basking in 14 glorious hours of sunshine, whilst with only ten hours each day, September is the least sunny month of the season. Despite the big difference between sunshine hours, you'll always have plenty of opportunities to sunbathe during your summer holiday in Torremolinos, and if the summer sun does prove a little too much for you there's always some shade to be found under the local palm trees.

Autumn Weather in Torremolinos
After a hot summer, temperatures drop significantly in autumn. InOctober, the average temperature is 20°C, created by average highs of 24°C and average lows of 15°C. InNovember, the average temperature drops down to 16°C, created by average highs of 20°C and average lows of 11°C. Temperatures during the daytime in this season are much more bearable, making it a better time to go for holidaymakers who can't stand the heat or wish to enjoy Torremolinos' other attractions, such as the gorgeous Parque de la Bateria.
As the temperatures drop, the amount of rainfall increases. In October, Torremolinos is subject to an average of 42mm of precipitation which falls on nine wet days. November is much wetter, when an average of 88mm falls over the course of eight wet days. With more than ¼ of days across this season being affected by rainfall, there is a fairly good chance you'll get a rainy day or two if you visit at this time of year, so be prepared. The most common type of precipitation you can expect to get in Torremolinos in autumn is moderate rain showers, which are sometimes preceded by thunderstorms.
Thankfully, autumn is still very sunny for the resort, so after the rain storm stops, the sun will never be far behind. In October, the resort enjoys an average of nine daily hours of sunshine, whilst November enjoys eight hours.
Sea water temperatures higher than 18°C are generally considered warm enough for swimming in. So if you visit Torremolinos in October, you'll get to swim in a warm 21°C sea. However, in November, the average sea water temperature drops down to 18°C, which some visitors might find a bit on the cool side for swimming.
Winter Weather in Torremolinos
After summer, winter is the most popular time of year to visit Torremolinos, when Brits hit the resort in search of some warm winter sunshine. Daily highs in the warmest part of the day range between 15°C and 18°C, whilst daily lows in the coolest part of the night fall between 7°C and 9°C. Winter is a fairly windy season, when strong winds often blow over the top of the northern mountain range and descend on the resort. When they do, these winds can often make temperatures feel even cooler than they already are, so be prepared.
Although you might get a few hours each day when the weather is warm enough to sunbathe, the evenings will always get very cold, so make sure you pack some winter warmers to keep comfortable. On average, January is the coldest month of the season, so try toavoid it if you want warm beach weather during your holiday.
As you'd expect for this time of year, winter is the wettest season for Torremolinos. December is the wettest month when 100mm of precipitation falls over the course of 12 wet days. After this month, the amount of rainfall drops significantly down to 61mm over nine days in January and 49mm over seven days in February. Moderate rain is the most common form of precipitation you can expect at this time of year, but thunderstorms also frequently occur.
Despite the fairly intense rainfall, the resort still enjoys a lot of sunshine during this season. On average, the sun shines for seven hours each day at this time of year. So even though you're bound to get a few cloudy spells in Torremolinos in winter, you'll never get entirely overcast days when the sun doesn't shine at all.
